A crew of professional cat burglars have been planning their last heist for the last 3 weeks. Buying stocks, islands, mansions, cars, starting hotel chains and throwing a big wedding are among their dreams after this score. They already have the buyer for the item they are going to steal, and the price will settle them for life.

Leo and Mel –which are engaged— are the de facto leaders of their joined jobs, the most agile and crafty of the group. There is also Chris the tech guy, August the gear specialist and Nat the contortionist. Kathe manages the negotiations, the drops, and the deliveries, exchanges and serves as the legal front of their operations. She, however, never goes on the field. She stays in a secure location, countries away.

On THE night, everything goes smoothly as planned, as always… spotless, professional work. Mel, as usual, is the one in charge of carrying the package. This time is a small gray case. They all meet at the rendezvous after a couple of hours to wait for the extraction. They are standing at the fence facing the dark sea on a very crowded, luminous pier fair full of entertainment for kids.

They make some trivial small talk, giggle and move to the rhythm of the music. Mel receives a text message from Kathe on a burner. The extraction is 3 minutes away. She takes the sim card out and ditches the phone down to the water. She breaks the sim card in two and both she and Leo use the bubble gum they were chewing to wrap them. He sticks it under the pier and she throws it into a nearby torch. Nat makes a signal with her head. The 5 of them jump over the fence and land flawlessly on the upper deck of a moving medium size motor boat. The boat gets lost in the dark distance.

After 40 minutes or so, the boat suddenly stops and they hear a splash in the water. After some investigating around they realize the operator is gone, and also the case. The controls are not responding. The radio is damaged. There is no fuel and the lights go off in the middle of nowhere.

But they are prepared for this cases. They have a contingency plan. Leo always carries an extra sim card and an old burner. Chris, August and Nat are in favor. Mel approves it. After setting and turning it on, the phone receives 2 messages. One from 45 minutes ago, and the other from 6 minutes ago. Same number. Kathe’s emergency number.

“Don’t board that boat.”

“Thanks for the package.”

Their eyes speak kilometers to one another… no, they are screaming KATHE in an uneasy swallowing silenced look. They need to get as soon as possible to where she is… or was. The uncertainty shrouds darker than the sky and sea together on them.

They hear sirens all of a sudden, then a helicopter and are immediately surrounded by several spotlights.

“This is Interpol coast guard! You four, come out to main deck with your hands up!”

Goal 1: As always is the plan, go back to Kathe with the package, wait for the delivery or the exchange, divide the money and on this especial time now, enjoy life.

Goal 2: After escaping the authorities (which they are more than capable, in fact one of them is already unnoticed), find out what the hell happened and track down the package. Have they been sold out? Double crossed? Is Kathe O.K.?
